Capsule Geology

The George 5 (South Creek) occurrence is located west of the Adam River, at an elevation of approximately 530 metres.

The area is underlain by basaltic volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Vancouver Group, Karmutsen Formation, 1 kilometre west of Jurassic Island Plutonic Suite granodiorite.

Locally, chalcopyrite with pyrite is present over 3.6 metres. This mineralization occurs in a pod of calcite-epidote breccia in basalt.

In 1969, a sample over 1.5 metres assayed 0.9 per cent copper, 0.6 grams per tonne gold, and 6.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 1993, page 11).

Work History

In 1969, Bethlehem Copper completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the Boyes claims. In 1971, Conoco Silver Mines completed a program of soil sampling and an induced polarization survey. The same year, Western Standard Silver Mines completed a program of geological mapping and soil sampling on the area as the M 1-37 claims. In 1991, West Pride Industries completed a program of geological mapping, rock -, silt -, and soil sampling, as well as sampling of previous drill cores on the area as the Boyes 1-5 claims, Adam River property. In 1994, Lucky Break Gold completed ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys. During 2006 through 2013, M. Schau completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, and rock sampling on the area as the Kringle South property. During 2018 through 2020, Altum Resource Corp. completed programs of prospecting, geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling, a 3.5 line-kilometre induced polarization survey, and a 361.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetometer survey on the area as the Adam West property.
